Have Awesome Clients, Will Travel
While we may not quite be globe-trotters for work, we like to think of ourselves as…“Commonwealth-trotters?” Is that a thing?
Anyway, we mention it because we're just back from a trip across the Keystone State for major events with two of our fantastic clients, the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners AND the #PANeedsTeachers coalition!
Our first stop was historic Lancaster, where we had the pleasure of presenting and tabling at the Annual PCNP Conference. As Pennsylvania continues to face a significant shortage of primary care providers, nurse practitioners (NPs) can fill in the gaps. Yet Pennsylvania prevents them from practicing to the full extent of their licensing and training – that’s why it’s past time the state grants NPs full practice authority.
Now, we believe strongly in having the people most affected by something be the ones to talk to legislators about it. That’s why we joined State Rep. Ismael Wade-El and former State Rep. Megan Schroeder to run “If Not Now,” an educational session where we talked about how the PCNP membership can become effective NP advocates.
We also helped folks contact their legislators; listened to their stories about patient care; and most importantly, partied like it's 1922 (check out our cool flapper duds in the photo)! Last but not least, we simply must shout out the NEW PCNP President Amanda Laskoskie and President-Elect Janice Miller. Congrats, and we cannot wait to continue our work with the two at the helm!
If that wasn’t enough, we then headed to Harrisburg, where we helped run the #PANeedsTeachers Solutions Summit. With 100+ excited attendees discussing all sorts of methods of fixing the teacher pipeline, the energy and enthusiasm to coordinate on solutions was infectious. Our favorite part? The delicious boxed lunches carefully made by PA school students themselves, through the Capital Area IU Transition program. We certainly couldn't have done it without the awesome Amy Morton and fantastic Jahmair S. (pictured here with our DCS crew) — thank you!
From Pittsburgh to Lancaster to Harrisburg and beyond, we’re continually grateful to our clients for allowing us to do the work we so love to do!
