(Re)Introducing Charlie Lotz: Old Friend, New Beginning

Denny Civic Solutions is thrilled to welcome our new Associate Director, Charlie Lotz.

Though the title may be new, Charlie’s actually been working alongside John Denny for almost five years, serving as social media and web content director for DCS since 2012.

The arrangement wasn’t exactly conventional. After initially meeting and working with John on the Campaign for What Works while with United Way of Allegheny County, in 2012 Charlie and his wife moved to Seville, Spain, where he began his role with Denny Civic Solutions remotely, splitting his time between his online DCS responsibilities and teaching English as a second language. Now, having recently moved back to Pittsburgh, Charlie is thrilled to have the opportunity to work as a truly hands-on member of the DCS team and join in our mission of championing the underdogs of the world.

John Denny, founder and principal of Denny Civic Solutions, had this to say: “I’m so excited to welcome Charlie back to Denny Civic Solutions full time. He has been a tremendous help to us while spending time in Spain and has already proven his talents and leadership in the short time he has been back. I know our clients will enjoy working with Charlie and will be well served.”

Originally from the Cincinnati area, Charlie graduated from the University of Pittsburgh before entering the nonprofit and public policy worlds. In his free time, he loves to travel, play music, and cook – and he’s a glutton for all things pop culture. Just don’t ask him which football team he roots for.

Please join us in (re)welcoming Charlie aboard!

DCS Internship Program: Introducing Traci Johnson

The new faces just keep coming! Denny Civic Solutions is also excited to welcome our new intern, Traci Johnson.

Traci is a senior in her final semester at Carlow University, where she is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Information Technology.  She comes to DCS with a wide variety of nonprofit and research experience, fueled by her strong passion for public policy and advocacy.

Traci believes that this opportunity will allow her to deepen her knowledge of the public policy and advocacy world, while gaining firsthand experience in the elements involved in conducting a successful civic campaign. She is excited to learn, grow and be a strong contributing member of the DCS team – and she’s no stranger to our mission of “helping make the communities for which we work a far better place for all.”

John Denny agrees: “From the moment I spoke with Traci for the first time, I knew she was the right intern candidate for DCS,” he said. “Traci’s outstanding educational achievement at Carlow, her extensive hands-on experience, and her inner strength show through every day on every project she works on.”

When she is not taking classes in Urban Politics and American Political Development, Traci enjoys music, reading, traveling, watching her favorite TV dramas, and cheering on her Pittsburgh Steelers.

Denny Civic Solutions is thrilled to welcome Traci to our team.
