DCS Wins Award for Excellence in Employment

We’re thrilled to announce that last Monday, December 5th, Denny Civic Solutions was presented with the 2016 ACHIEVA Excellence in Employment Award. In a ceremony held at the Sheraton Pittsburgh in Station Square, DCS was recognized for our work:

Changing the Dept. of Public Welfare’s name to the Department of Human Services;
Helping to create and lead the Campaign for What Works; and
For the achievements of the #IWantToWork campaign, which was instrumental in the passage of Pennsylvania’s Employment First initiative, signed into law earlier this year.

While it’s always an honor to be recognized, it’s especially humbling to receive the award from ACHIEVA, a Pittsburgh-based organization that has been a champion for people with disabilities for more than 65 years.

ACHIEVA’s own advocacy efforts have long been an inspiration to us at Denny Civic Solutions, and John thanked them along with our partners at United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Foundation, Nancy Murray of the Arc of Greater Pittsburgh, and disability rights advocate Mary Hartley during his acceptance speech.
