Announcing Our New Strategic Partner: Former State Representative Wendi Thomas

Sometimes you just know it…before you know it.

That’s how it was with former State Representative Wendi Thomas. It was early spring 2019 when a few of us from the DCS team drove out to meet newly-elected Representative Thomas in her Bucks County office. Our mission? Secure her leadership on behalf of the Family Care Act.

Wendi welcomed us, and then got right to the heart of the matter. “So who are you thinking of as your legislative champion for paid family and medical leave?” she asked. 

After a few seconds of silence, we tipped our hand: “Well…you!”  

And just like that, she was in. She was already intimately familiar with the issue, thanks to her extensive background in insurance and a long history of fighting to protect employee benefits. And as a newly-elected public servant, she was eager to move the needle on legislation that would make a huge difference in the lives of her constituents.

We knew then, that someday we would work together. But we didn’t know when, or how, until last year we got a friendly note from Wendi simply asking, “How are things?” In an instant, it dawned on us what an asset Wendi would be for us and our clients. We called up our other strategic partner, Donna Malpezzi, and within minutes we were reaching out to see if we could meet with Wendi. 

So now, that premonition from years ago has come true — and we’re thrilled to be working with Wendi once again. With her expertise in health care, education, government and good ‘ole smart politics, she has already become instrumental in many of our clients’ campaigns and needs.
